Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Log/Timber Cabins

Q) What wall thickness do you do for the cabins?
A) Timber Living do 45mm wall thickness, this would be used for an office, and kids room. 60mm for living and a double wall. 100mm insulation for outer walls and 20mm for inner walls.
Q) What wall thickness is recommended if I would like to live in the cabin?
A) Double wall thickness
Q) What is included in your price, do I need to get a cost for basic electricity and plumbing?
A) The price includes thethe build of the walls, doors, windows, full timber floor, full timber ceiling, roof and floor insulation, (wall insulation if it’s a double wall), outer metal profile roof cover delivery, erection of building plus VAT.
Q) Can Timber Living quote me on electricity and plumbing?
A) Timber Living can quote this if the customer wishes.
Q) How long will it take to delivery my product after I order it?
A) Delivery time is approx 8/10 weeks from date of order.
Q) How is the building delivered?
A) The building is delivered flat pack on a canter truck and built on site.
Q) How long will it take to build?
A) This is all down to the size of the building. Open plan building approx 1/2 days and living anywhere from 3/7 days.
Q) What type of insulation is used in the walls, floor and roof? Do you damp proof the building?
A) Timber Living use 100mm PIR insulation in the roof and floor, for the walls we use 100mm rock wool and also put down damp proof protection on the base.
Q) Can the base be bigger than the building?
A) The base must be smaller than the building, we will give the customer full spec on the base.
Q) How long do log cabin / timber building last?
A) A decent log cabin will last a lifetime if maintained and cared for, just as you would with any domestic or commercial building. A quality wood treatment, guttering and general maintenance every few years keeping check on things and the building will last a lifetime.
